Just walk into any beauty section and you will see packs for the face from ₹100 to over ₹1,000, all guaranteeing you a glow. So does paying more actually get you brighter skin, or can a pack that costs around ₹299 do the same job? To find out, we put seven popular face packs, all under ₹600, next to our own Veda Harvest De-Tan Face Mask and compared them on four things that matter: price, pack size, key ingredients, and the skin type each one is made for. We have not run lab tests. This is a label-and-price comparison, written by Veda Harvest, so we have tried to be fair about what every brand does well and where each one falls short.

    1. Veda Harvest De-Tan Face Mask

The De-Tan Face Mask of ours is an herbal mask comprising eight natural herbs, which are saffron, turmeric, sandalwood, almond, oats, orange peel, papaya, and multani mitti. These are selected in such a way that they can clean the skin, exfoliate it, and make it look fresh and radiant. Multani mitti absorbs the extra oil of the skin; oats and orange peel help in removing dead skin cells, almond helps in keeping the skin soft, while saffron, turmeric, and sandalwood help in getting radiant skin. This is good for all skin types and genders and can be used for 10-15 minutes, two to three times a week. This comes in a 200 gm jar costing ₹319 from our website at MRP ₹549. If your skin is sensitive, do a patch test first, as with any face pack.

    2. Himalaya Purifying Neem Pack

The neem face pack by Himalaya is the most economical face pack per gram listed here and is one of the most recognizable face packs in India. It is made up of neem, fuller’s earth, and turmeric, and Himalaya claims it controls excess oil, cleanses blocked pores, and prevents acne from recurring. Himalaya suggests that it be used once a week and should remain on the face for 10-15 minutes. This face pack costs around ₹1.60 per gram. The limit is its focus. This is an oil-control pack rather than a whitening pack, so if your problem is a dull skin tone or a tan or even dry skin, this pack may not be what you are expecting.

    3. Khadi Pure Herbal Sandalwood Face Pack

This is an herbal dry face pack consisting of fuller’s earth, sandalwood, neem, wild turmeric, and rose. You mix about 5 grams with rose water, plain water, or milk, apply a thin layer, and wash it off after 10 to 15 minutes. It has the lowest price tag here, and the ingredient list is short and familiar, which many people like. There are trade-offs, though. Since the pack weight is just 50 grams, which means that the per-gram price is approximately ₹2.50, mixing it is required every time. The retailer guidelines even mention moisturising your skin after using this product, as it may become dry. It is a good choice if you enjoy the ritual of a home-style pack and don't mind the extra step.

    4. Biotique Fruit Brightening Face Pack

Biotique takes the fruit route. This pack is blended with pineapple, tomato, lemon, and papaya extracts and is positioned for tan removal and a more even-looking skin tone. This product is ready to use, the brand says that it suits all skin types, and the instructions say to keep it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Its price per gram at MRP is ₹3.20. This makes it mid-range in this listing, although it is usually available at a discount online. One tip before purchasing – the lemon extract and other fruit extracts can be irritating to the skin and might sting, so it is recommended to test on the skin before using.

    5. Lotus Herbals Claywhite Black Clay Face Pack

Claywhite is a face pack that is based on the formula of black clay, bearberry extract, and liquorice extract. The idea behind this clay pack is to remove extra oils and grime that accumulate on the skin, which will then help give you a quick-drying effect, while this face pack is suggested as one of the great options for summers. 120 grams of Claywhite comes in a tube that costs about ₹3.04 per gram MRP. There are other pack sizes available as well. Since it is an oil-absorbing clay pack, it is suggested to work best on oily and combination skin types. People with dry skin may use some moisturizer after using it since it can be harsh for dry skin.

    6. Mamaearth Ubtan Face Mask

Mamaearth's ubtan mask is the closest in style to a traditional glow pack. The product is made of turmeric, saffron, apricot oil, and cucumber extract in a creamy clay base comprising kaolin and bentonite. The product is marketed as a tanning remover that would work effectively on all types of skins. The formula of the product also includes glycolic acid. It is ready to use and has thousands of ratings online. The catch is the price. At an MRP of ₹499 for 100 grams, it costs about ₹4.99 per gram, roughly three times the cheapest packs here, although sale prices are common. If you like the brand and want an ubtan in cream form, it is a good product at a higher cost per use.

    7. Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask

Plum's mask is made for a specific job: oily, acne-prone, and combination skin. It pairs green tea extract with kaolin and bentonite clays and glycolic acid, and the brand describes it as a creamy clay mask that absorbs excess oil without leaving skin parched. It is 100% vegan, and the directions suggest a thin layer left on for up to 30 minutes. It is also the second-smallest pack and the most expensive per gram on this list, at about ₹8.17 per gram at MRP. That makes sense if breakouts and oil are your main problem and you want an acid-based formula. For a simple weekly glow pack that the whole family can share, it is a costly way to go.

    8. Face Mask – mCaffeine Naked & Raw Coffee

mCaffeine builds its mask around coffee. Apart from caffeine, it has ingredients like cocoa, argan oil, and vitamin E. It claims to be especially formulated for oily skin to extract impurities and oils, giving a brighter appearance. You have to put on a layer of it and keep it on for 15-20 minutes. The smell of coffee adds to its charm. With an MRP of ₹575 per 100 grams (₹5.75 per gram), it is the costliest one in this category. If you are shopping strictly on a budget, several packs on this list give you more product for less.

    Where Veda Harvest Stands Out

Three things separate our pack from the seven above. First, size: at 200 grams, it is the largest jar in this comparison, and the others are 50 to 120 grams. Second, cost per use: at our website price, it works out to about ₹1.60 per gram, level with Himalaya, the cheapest per gram here, and well below the rest at their MRPs. Thirdly, range: while the other products include one hero ingredient, it includes clay for cleansing alongside oatmeal and fruits for exfoliation, and saffron, turmeric, and sandalwood for glow. To be honest, if all you need is oil control, then Himalaya is cheaper, and if all you need is an acid-based acne mask, then Plum has it covered. For an all-round weekly glow pack, we think ours offers the best value.

So, does a ₹299 Face Pack Guarantee Luxury Glow?

Yes, but with reasonable expectations. An excellent face pack will help you achieve cleaner, smoother, and fresher-looking skin once you remove it from your face; this is all that any face pack aims to deliver regardless of its price tag. What you get in excess in a costly face pack includes brand value, packaging, fragrance, or special ingredients, but not glow. No face pack – regardless of its cost – changes your skin color forever. Plus, the effect wears off if you do not apply the face pack regularly and wear sunscreen daily. Choose on the basis of your skin type and ingredients, and finally by its price per gram. Oily skin requires a clay or neem face pack.
